Twenty Hong Kong students were announced the winners of the MTR's 'My Courteous Hong Kong Video Competition' last week, and they will be leaving on a six-day cultural tour of Japan by rail tomorrow.

The video competition aimed at promoting courtesy and good behaviour drew about 200 submissions in two categories - secondary and post-secondary students.

Cheung Ka-chun, who will be starting Form Five at HKWMA Chu Shek Lun Secondary School next month, brainstormed with his friends and enlisted their help as actors to create a short, narrative-driven film about a student who gives a helping hand to those in need.

In his video short, a student who is on his daily commute to school takes time out to help an old lady, a pregnant woman and a little girl who has burst into tears.

He said most Hongkongers were very helpful, but they sometimes had to be reminded of other people's needs because they were too busy getting to work and going home.

'One time, there was a lady who fainted on the train on my way to school, and some other people and I accompanied her to the next stop and got help from MTR staff,' he said.
