Deep under the surface of the Earth sleeps the worldwyrm - a magical dragon - its body curled around the planet's fiery core. The  creature's head rests in a pool of white gold in the middle of the red-hot mass that's the Earth's heart.
But the worldwyrm has been disturbed and the Earth is in danger. Only one human can save the world from the  dragon's destructive powers.
Heroine Linnet Perry is a teenager living in the quiet country town of Wyrmesbury.  Some of the kids at school  think Linnet is a bit strange and they bully her.
But when  her true destiny is revealed, the school bullies see their  former victim in a very different light.
Wyrmesbury is a place where new and old magic meet with potentially catastrophic consequences, and Linnet is caught in the middle.
Under the town, an ancient evil is stirring and Linnet begins to have weird dreams. She dreams Tom Bickerspike, the son of a local farmer, is swallowed by the Earth as he drives over Black Meadows, a place known in legend as the home of the fairies who guard the worldwyrm.
Everyone knows the legend of the almighty dragon that sleeps under their homes,  but assumes it's just an old wives' tale.
Linnet has no choice but to accept her destiny as the one who must send it back to sleep.
Her task takes her through a door in Hootcat Hill to an underworld where she battles strange creatures and an evil sorceress. Can Linnet save the world from destruction?
There's a lot going on, but it's a good read for anyone who enjoys magical antics and fantasy action.
