A young woman working in a factory in Shenzhen has become a global internet phenomenon after photos of her smiling on the production line were found on a new iPhone shipped to Britain.

The photos of the worker, dubbed 'iPhone Girl' and hailed online as 'the most beautiful female worker' on the mainland, were found by a man in Kingston upon Hull in England when he activated his new 3G iPhone.

One of the pictures was even set as the phone's home screen.

The man, using the internet name markm49uk, put a post on macrumors.com, a popular forum for Apple fans, last Wednesday, saying: 'It would appear that someone on the production line was having a bit of fun - has anyone else found this?'

The pictures have sparked fevered online discussions around the world. Enthusiastic netizens have produced special 'iPhone Girl' websites, like iphonegirl.net and iphonegirl.cn, carrying the latest news about the accidental images.

Some netizens suspected an Apple public relations tactic to show the good facilities and happy workers making the iPhones, which are produced at electronic giant Foxconn's plant in Shenzhen.
