The Shenzhen worker dubbed the 'iPhone Girl' by netizens when her photo was found on a phone by a British buyer is shocked by her sudden celebrity and afraid of the media spotlight.

The daily life of the unidentified worker has been disrupted by the intense interest in her since netizens in Europe and China spread news of the discovery of her photo this week and set up special websites to discuss the issue.

The girl tests the camera function on new iPhones that come off the production line in electronics giant Foxconn's Shenzhen factory.

The girl's colleagues apparently took pictures of her to test the phone but forgot to delete them. When the phone was bought by a man in Kingston upon Hull and he found the pictures, he shared his discovery on the MacRumors.com website on August 20, triggering a frenzy among netizens.

The story has spread through mainland and overseas media, and reporters and netizens have been trying to find the girl. Paparazzi have even staked out the Foxconn plant in the hope of finding her.

Foxconn yesterday said the accidental pictures on the iPhone were not a publicity stunt, just a 'small but beautiful mistake' by a careless worker.
