Tonight, a chance to hear the real singing voice of Lin Miaoke
Lin Miaoke , the girl who shot to worldwide fame performing a patriotic song at the Olympics opening ceremony which was later revealed to be lip-synched, will show off her real voice on television tonight.
She will feature in a China Central Television education programme to teach students how to face disasters.
To make the programme more interesting, Miaoke will open the show, singing the Beijing Games theme song You and Me with Lin Hao , a student and Sichuan quake hero who also took part in the opening ceremony alongside basketball star Yao Ming . Miaoke, a talented nine-year-old with an infectious smile, charmed the world performing Ode to the Motherland at the Olympics opening ceremony on August 8. It was later revealed she had been chosen for her looks to support 'national interest' and that the real singer was another girl, Yang Peiyi , who was considered not pretty enough. Miaoke is reported to have asked CCTV producers to allow her to sing on tonight's show.
