Truck driver charged over death A truck driver, 30, will appear in Kowloon City Court today to face one count of dangerous driving causing death after his arrest in connection with a fatal crash in which a motorcyclist, 27, was sandwiched between his vehicle and another truck on Saturday. It happened on the West Kowloon Expressway in Olympian City. Man hurt jumping from flat Police arrested an injured mainlander in Tseung Kwan O about 30 minutes after he jumped out the window of a second-floor flat in Choi Hung and fled empty-handed after a bungled burglary yesterday. The man, 37, was discovered in a Tsui Shek House flat at Ping Shek Estate, Choi Hung, at about 4.30am when the 65-year-old tenant woke. The mainlander, who had leg injuries, was arrested outside Tiu Keng Leng MTR station. Officer injured in hit-and-run A policeman was hurt in a hit-and-run accident in Wan Chai Road, Wan Chai, at about 11am. The officer was treated for hand injuries at Ruttonjee Hospital. Police said the driver, 52, later returned to the scene. He was being held for questioning. Woman hurt in mugging A woman, 19, suffered head injuries after being pushed into a pole during a holdup in an underpass outside Cheung Wah Estate in Fanling at about 1am. The woman's purse containing HK$2,500 was taken. She was treated at North District Hospital. Hunt for attackers Three men are being hunted by police after two Pakistani men were injured in a knife attack in Mody Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, at about 12.45am. The two victims were treated for minor arm injuries at Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Boat fire blamed on short circuit A short circuit was the suspected cause of a fire on an anchored fishing boat in Aberdeen typhoon shelter at about 2am. Truck torched Detectives are investigating an arson case in which a parked truck was torched in Cheung Sha Wan Road, Sham Shui Po, at about 2.30am.
