Student who punched teacher twice in the eye sent to rehabilitation centre
A Form Three student who punched his teacher in the eye was sent to a rehabilitation centre yesterday.
Sentencing Lam Kai-wai, Tsuen Wan magistrate Sham Siu-man said he was shocked by the violence of the 16-year-old, who needed supervision.
The court heard that the teacher, Rocky Yung Lok-ki, suffered bruises, tenderness and a 1cm laceration near his eye, but his sight had not been affected.
Lam, a student of Ju Ching Chu Secondary School in Kwai Chung, pleaded guilty on August 13 to one count of wounding, and appeared yesterday for sentencing.
The prosecutor earlier told the court that after Lam and some of his classmates had misbehaved, Mr Yung took them to another room and lectured them on discipline.
After he ordered Lam to stand to the side of the room as punishment, Lam suddenly punched Mr Yung in his right eye twice with his left hand, knocking him down.
