A food-poisoning outbreak that left 89 people ill in 2004 was a serious public health issue that should result in the temporary suspension of a Sha Tin hotel's food licence, the High Court ruled yesterday. The judge rejected Regal Riverside's bid for a judicial review, upholding an order to shut its restaurant for one week. The hotel pleaded guilty, paid a HK$3,000 fine and improved its refrigeration system, said Philip Dykes, the hotel's barrister.
