Determined to make up for her disappointing Beijing 2008 where she lost in the round-of-16, Hong Kong's Wang Chen reached the second round of the Japan Super Series in Tokyo yesterday. The veteran beat Chen Jiayuan of Singapore 21-12, 21-13. Zhou Mi, who was ineligible for the Games, also made it to the second stage by defeating India's Saina Nehwal 21-18, 21-16. The Indian beat Wang in Beijing to deny Hong Kong a medal. Youngster Yip Pui-yin also reached the second round, but both Ng Wei and Chan Yan-kit lost in the men's opening round.
