Hong Kong's hopes of qualifying for the Omega-Mission Hills World Cup took a nosedive yesterday after David Freeman and Derek Fung slumped to a 78 in the second round of the Fortis International Challenge in Kuala Lumpur. The duo, who started the day in a tie for second after a gutsy display in the first round of fourballs, could only manage one birdie in the foursomes format and now lie in a share of tenth spot on level par, nine shots behind leaders South Korea. The top three teams qualify for the November event. 'It was crazy,' said Freeman. 'We probably only hit three bad shots all day, but we couldn't hole a putt.' The tournament will revert to fourballs today before the final round of foursomes tomorrow. 'Obviously we're going to have to go really low in the fourballs [to stand a chance of qualifying],' added Freeman.
