Pixel-packed
Designed for both the cash-strapped professional and the ambitious amateur, the GX-20 is Samsung Electronics' first digital single-lens reflex camera. The advanced snapper has a 14.6-megapixel image sensor that helps produce sharper pictures. An innovative dustproof and waterproof design protects the image sensor from contamination, which will appeal to those who frequently shoot in challenging outdoor environments. The bright, high-quality 2.7-inch display allows users to check images with more clarity while the 'high dynamic range' function expands the range of bright and dark areas the camera can effectively capture in a single shot. The GX-20 is sold as part of a single lens kit (HK$6,990) or double lens kit (HK$7,990).

The first time you see Toshiba's Portege M800 Mobile Note, expect to do a double take and ask: 'Isn't that an Apple MacBook?' Both laptops have a glossy white finish, have a 13.3-inch widescreen display and are marketed as compact, durable and affordable. But the similarities end there. Unlike the education-market focused MacBook, the Portege M800 is an ultra-portable notebook computer geared for professionals. The Portege M800 - with Intel's T5500 Core 2 Duo processor, the Windows Vista Home Premium operating system, a 160-gigabyte hard drive, 1GB of internal memory and a three-year warranty - costs HK$8,399 at Fortress stores.

Sleek, elegant and eye-catching in nine vibrant colours, the fourth-generation iPod nano takes on the narrow form of the 2006 edition and retains the high-resolution, two-inch display of last year's shorter and wider model. Apple claims the updated media player, released early this month, is the thinnest iPod to date, with a curved aluminium and glass enclosure that is just 6.2mm thick. A built-in accelerometer allows a user to switch between portrait or landscape mode, and, if they so desire, shuffle songs by shaking the player. The new nano is available in 8-gigabyte (HK$1,150) and 16GB (HK$1,550) versions.
