Tune into action-packed sci-fi anime Blassreiter (Pale Rider) as the dead come back to life and wreak havoc on mankind.
Blassreiter is a collaboration between animation studio Gonzo (Afro Samurai, Hellsing) and multimedia studio Nitro+. The anime is based on the manga Blassreiter-genetic- which is serialised in Champion Red magazine.
In a fictional Germany, creatures called Demoniacs are running amok killing people. These monsters are human corpses that have risen from their graves and are able to merge with technology like motorcycles and cars.
Tasked with stopping this threat is the Xenogenesis Assault Team (XAT), a special police division. Their extensive powers allow them to implement city-wide curfews and martial law without notice.
The story opens on famed white-haired rider Gerd Frentzen battling for the lead in a bike race, when a Demoniac crashes onto the course, killing several riders. Fusing with a bike, the monster starts chasing as many racers as he can before XAT scare it off. But they arrive too late for Gerd.
Paralysed from the waist down, Gerd takes an experimental drug which a mysterious woman claims will allow him to race again. Meanwhile XAT have located the escaped Demoniac and are giving chase, but a second Demoniac appears and chases it and quickly despatches it.
