You may have noticed that the main entrances to some homes and offices are set at an angle. This is a technique used by certain fung shui masters to tap the positive energy from a specific direction, to improve the ability of the occupants to generate wealth.
Every structure is oriented in a certain direction. For instance, if the back wall of a home faces south, the chances are the main door will open to the north.
However, taking into account the time at which a structure was built may reveal that the direction in which the door opens is not auspicious. It may even bring forth sickness and mishap.
In a such a case, the master would suggest that the door be angled, so those entering the premises can bring in with them beneficial energy.
Some fung shui masters argue that slanting the door by a few degrees will change the orientation of a structure and the overall nature of the property. This is not so. What is most important is the direction in which the back wall faces.
Other experts believe the door should be tilted to suit the year of birth of the occupants (you can imagine how troublesome it would be if every time a property was sold, its door had to be realigned) and there are those who feel that having the main entrance at an angle is detrimental, as a small focus of unsettled energy will build up at the entrance, adversely affecting the health and well-being of the occupants.
