Abode bill fails

A BILL aimed at giving the right of abode in Britain to Hong Kong's ethnic minorities was rejected in the House of Commons last night. The measure had passed all its stages in the Lords, but fell at its second reading in the Commons when a government minister objected to it proceeding further.
