Forum to look at upcoming trends that will include a fusion of east and west

Fabric industry players need to look one or two years ahead to make sure they can meet demand and compete. The Directions trend forum of the fair allows industry members to grasp what will be on in the market.

The forum will feature a selection of fabrics chosen by the Interstoff Asia directions trend committee, whose work is to provide invaluable research and marketing tools for designers and garment professionals to steer their designs and manufacturing process in line with the coming fashion season.

Kai Chow, creative director of Doneger Group, a leading United States merchandising consultant and trend forecasting company, will hold a seminar to illustrate the trends for autumn and winter 2009/2010.

'Ecology and nature are the key messages and the major factors of influence,' he said.

Therefore, organic materials, feminine and sheer fabrics, fabrics promoting space-age futurism, those giving a sense of alchemy or advocating a fusion of east and west will be among the major trends in the future market.

Also in the forum will be seminars on fabric trends for men's wear and casual wear for autumn/winter 2009/2010, views about colours for the next season and trends for women's wear and lingerie in the near future.
