Everything's Grand

Switzerland may more often be associated with snow than spa but Zurich's iconic city resort, the Dolder Grand, is changing that. After a US$400 million facelift by architects Foster and Partners, the Dolder Grand, which dates back to 1899 as a Curhaus health spa, has been transformed. The Spa, created by American consultant Sylvia Sepielli, uses European and Japanese influences to shape the temple dedicated to well-being; a black swimming pool with panoramic alpine views being the key feature. Also worth checking out is the Sunaburo where guests can experience the health-giving effects of warm pebbles. Throughout the rest of the year, the Dolder Grand is offering an intensive anti-ageing Medical Wellness package at US$2,145 which includes two nights' accommodation, various preventive treatments over three days and 25 minutes of Kerastase haircare. Most Moorish

Spa-goers tired of conventional Zen-inspired decor and urban minimalist chic should head to the Kasbah Agafay Spa in Marrakesh. Actor Jude Law is apparently a regular guest at this converted hotel and spa - it was once a fortress - which boasts an exotic traditional Moroccan interior. But if you're looking for something truly authentic, opt for a luxury Caidal tent. All treatments have been developed with a Moroccan flavour in mind, with fresh ingredients such as mint, sage, henna and clay. The menu ranges from facials to traditional hamman. Visit www.kasbahagafay.com for more information.
