Standard Chartered Arts in the Park Mardi Gras 2008 will take place in Victoria Park next month, and will include a Gulliver's Travels theme parade.
Jonathan Swift's classic story of a traveller who visits a land of giants and one of tiny people is told through giant puppets and costumes.
The parade has a cast of more than 500. And the flags, headdresses, choreographed dance routines and giant puppets have all been created by local school students under the supervision of renowned artists.
The students have been hard at work since July to prepare for the big day.
The Hong Kong Youth Arts Foundation (HKYAF), a local charity organisation, is hosting the event.
'We want to make it a fun experience for young people to get involved in different kinds of art forms,' said HKYAF founder, Lindsey McAlister.
'The ultimate goal is to make this event a tradition for the community.
