Ryuko Lau, trainer for Mac Cosmetics in Hong Kong, suggests a professional, well-groomed look to show that you care about your appearance and the way you present yourself. Face The overall skin tone should be kept natural with a matt or satin finish, while the cheeks should be brushed with a sheer pink or peach for a natural glow. Eyes Keep brows defined. Higher arches can give the illusion of power and confidence, but make sure you don't go overboard and end up looking permanently surprised. Eye shadow colours should be kept in the medium range - soft brown or light grey for fair skin, and a darker brown or darker grey for tanned skin. Avoid bright or vivid colours - neon does not belong in the workplace. Neither does anything too dark or too pale. Dark shadow is too heavy, while pale shadow can give the illusion of puffiness. Lips Neutral pinks, peaches, champagnes and browns. Avoid anything glittery. Stand out with attention-grabbing lips. 'Bold, look-at-me lips make you look sophisticated,' says Nars lead makeup artist Priscilla Yu. Face Keep the face soft and luminous with a brightening serum underneath a light powder foundation. Eyes Give a goddess-like shimmer by blending golden shadow along the lower lash line as well as over the entire eyelid. Finish with a coat of mascara. Lips A shimmering cherry lipstick brightened with an eye-popping complementary colour on the centre of the lip. Leave it as it is for a more sophisticated look, or finish with a layer of gloss for a fresher effect.
