Eight men injured in collision
Eight men, including seven Highways Department employees, were injured in a collision between a road-maintenance truck and a delivery van in Cheung Tung Road on Lantau Island at 1.13pm. The seven staff in the truck and the delivery van driver were treated at Princess Margaret Hospital. In a separate case, seven kindergarten pupils and their minder suffered minor injuries after their school bus hit the back of a taxi on the Sha Lek Highway, Sha Tin, at about 8.30am. The six boys and one girl, aged between three and five, and the woman, 54, were discharged from Prince of Wales Hospital after treatment.
Woman savaged by dog
A stray dog attacked a woman in Yee Kuk Street, Sham Shui Po, at about 2.30am. Her 35-year-old male friend was unhurt. The 34-year-old had injuries to her left arm and face, and she was in stable condition in Caritas Medical Centre. Police did not find the dog.
Fire forces residents to flee
A cigarette butt is thought to have caused a fire in the first-floor stairwell of a residential block in Wu Kwong Street, Hung Hom, at about 1.30am. More than 30 residents had escaped before firemen arrived.
