ZTE secures US$400m contract to develop Aircel network
ZTE Corp, the mainland's second-largest telecommunications equipment manufacturer, has landed a US$400 million deal to develop the GSM network infrastructure of Aircel, a subsidiary of Malaysian mobile telecommunications giant Maxis. Aircel is India's fifth-largest mobile telecommunications network operator, with more than 11 million subscribers.

China Medical Technologies to buy diagnostic system for US$345m
China Medical Technologies, a mainland manufacturer of in vitro diagnostic products and ultrasound tumour therapy systems, last week agreed to buy for US$345 million the HPV-DNA biosensor chip and surface plasmon resonance-based analysis system assets of Molecular Diagnostics Technologies. 'We expect this acquisition to further strengthen our leading position in the ... diagnostic market in China,' said Wu Xiaodong, the chairman and chief executive of China Medical.
