What do you think of the Discovery Bay ferry service proposals?

I have been living in Discovery Bay for the past six years. The frequency of the ferry schedule has been cut back, but not so dramatically that it affects daily commuters.

However, residents have received a so-called survey from HKR International, regarding changes to the service. It proposes Option 1, which would raise the single trip from HK$27 to HK$44. With a 50-trip ticket, the single fare would go up from HK$23.20 to HK$38. Under this option we would keep the 24-hour ferry service.

The cost would be prohibitive for, say, a family of four. The daily cost of return tickets would be HK$304 and that excludes other forms of transport when people reach Central, such as the MTR, buses or taxis. Option 2 costs only HK$2 less than Option 1, but the company will cut the ferry service after 10.30 pm. There are two further options. There has been a substantial increase to the population of Discovery Bay because of new developments, such as Siena and Chianti.

HKRI is showing very little regard for the needs of Discovery Bay residents.

HKRI has suggested a coach to replace the ferry service after 10.30pm, which is ridiculous.
