There might be nothing newsworthy about two 20-somethings travelling around the mainland but if they are award-winning photojournalist and Oscar-nominated filmmaker Jeff and Peter Hutchens, then it's worth a documentary. Having grown up on the mainland gives the brothers added reason to document their travels.
National Geographic's Somewhere in China is a six-episode documentary that follows the brothers as they explore the new mainland, capturing stunning landscapes and the lifestyles of different communities.
The show documents the brothers getting kicked out of Gansu province during the Tibetan protests, exploring the ancient Silk Road, cruising through the Three Gorges, and celebrating Lunar New Year in Yunnan province .
They also revisit the city they grew up in, Harbin , and find it both familiar and changed.
Somewhere in China premiered on National Geographic channel on Sunday.
