The government-friendly camp has landed the top posts on the Legislative Council panel on constitutional affairs, which is dominated by its members.
Tam Yiu-chung, chairman of the Democratic Alliance for the Betterment and Progress of Hong Kong, is chairman and the Professional Forum's Raymond Ho Chung-tai is deputy chairman.
Pan-democrat lawmaker Emily Lau Wai-hing - who won leadership of the Finance Committee in a surprise result on Wednesday - ran for both posts but lost 22-10 for the chair and 22-12 for the deputy chair.
Both camps were keen to win chairmanship of the panel, which influences the agenda for meetings, but the democrats had little chance as they hold just 12 of the 38 seats.
Chairmen and deputy chairmen of Legco's 18 panels and two Finance Committee sub-committees were named yesterday but all apart from the constitutional affairs panel were unopposed after negotiations among the parties.
Thirteen are headed by the government-friendly camp while the pan-democrat camp heads seven.
