As diva or driver, Maggie Q proves a late starter

Now that she's gone Hollywood, is Maggie Q developing diva tendencies? It might appear so as she returned to town on Tuesday to promote Electronic Arts' popular game Need for Speed Undercover. Featured in the latest version, Q plays hot federal agent Chase Linh, who guides gamers through reckless car chases with bad guys.

An hour after her scheduled appearance, Q (right) arrived at The Peak in a red Porsche. Barely stopping for pictures, she was hurried inside to Electronic Arts' platform in the Peak Tower for a Q&A. Meanwhile, the press corps was herded like cattle into the cage-like mezzanine floor above. No one was allowed out, or to stray. It was interesting watching photographers try to shoot through the bars and railings.

'I thought it was going to be the typical game with virtual characters and I would be put in a motion-capture suit shooting in front of the green screen,' Q said. 'It wasn't until they sent me a script that they said it would be shot like a movie.'

Halfway through the Q&A, though, she got up unexpectedly and left. No one knew why until publicists said Q was going to change into a new outfit. A new outfit? Is she hosting an awards show? The actress eventually re-emerged to try out the driving game for herself, which might be a better idea than getting into a real car with her. 'I didn't get my driver's licence until I was 26. It was very embarrassing. I learned to drive for Mission Impossible III. It has all been downhill since. I mean, learning to drive with a Lamborghini, what do you do after that?'
