WE refer to Ms Maria Carland's letter (South China Morning Post, March 1). Due to fire services regulations, the entrance door to auditorium A to UA Times Square is a special fire-rated acoustic steel door. A special hydraulic door closer has been installed, but still does not seem to be able to cope with the weight of the doors. We are aware of the problem and will rectify it to the best of our ability.

While we insist on having our auditoria cleaned after every show, our cleaners have been cautioned to avoid disturbance in any way to our customers while waiting for the film to finish.

A slide requesting patrons to turn off their pager and/or mobile phone is projected before each show in all our UA theatres.

We apologise for the experience Ms Carland and her family had and hope to be able to serve them again in the near future.
