Why you can trust SCMP
There are food blogs we love to revisit, not because the content is updated frequently, but for visual inspiration. Keiko, who blogs at Nordljus (which means 'northern lights' in Swedish) is a Japanese woman living in Britain - and her food photos are stunning (since starting the blog, she's had a few freelance photo assignments). She posts rarely - about once every two months - and doesn't always write much, but her words are supplemented by beautiful, evocative pictures. Many of her recent posts have been about her travels (Spain, Cuba, France and Japan), but older posts show she's a talented cook and food stylist. Much of what she cooks is sweet (she gives recipes for perry jelly and summer berries with elderflower mousse, right, and buckwheat tuile biscuits with fig custard cream) but she posts a few savoury recipes (truffle and white bean soup, grilled quail with rose petals). Go to www.nordljus.co.uk and if you read Japanese, she also blogs at www.nordljus.co.uk/jp.
