POLLUTION and dirt are the main dislikes of 21.6 per cent of visitors to the Philippines, according to a Manila newspaper report. Heavy traffic was the next most popular complaint at 20.6 per cent with ''widespread poverty and beggars,'' coming a distant third at 6.4 per cent, the Today newspaper reported. The research also found that the hospitality of Filipinos was the main attraction for tourists, with 40.6 per cent saying it was what they liked most, followed by scenery and beaches,'' second at 19.6 per cent. The newspaper did not say how many people were surveyed or when the survey was conducted. Tourist arrivals last year were estimated to have reached 1.4 million.
