'Rats' compete in charity race around Central
Hundreds of 'rats' scurried through streets and between office towers in Central yesterday morning - completing a charity obstacle course.
About 400 executives and office staff from some of the city's top companies competed in this year's Central Rat Race, running to raise HK$2.38 million for the mental-health charity Mindset.
In its third year, the event saw sections of the main thoroughfares and corridors in office blocks and malls in Central turned into a 2.5km obstacle course, giving the business centre a festive atmosphere.
The area was treated to a morning of entertainment as the 46 teams of eight, sporting rat costumes of different colours and styles, crawled under fences, dug for 'cheese' and tore from one checkpoint to another in the relay.
It also gave staff a rare chance to see their bosses sweating their way across the obstacles, using briefcases as batons.
The Rat Race Cup was won by a team from Jardine Engineering. The company's Alex Newbigging won the Big Rat Cup for senior executives. Craig Dally, of Linklaters, won the Iron Rat Race.
