1 Podolski is from a sporting family. His mother was a professional handball player and his father was a professional footballer. Both parents played for Poland.
2 He was born in Poland. His grandfather was a German citizen before the second world war.  The  family moved to West Germany when  Podolski  was two years old.
3 He scored two goals for Germany against Poland in Euro 2008. But he refused to celebrate to show respect for his country of birth.
4 He once said: 'I have two hearts - a German one and a Polish one!'
