Next Sunday is not only a full house in the stadium, in the lead up to the Bledisloe it's a full house in Hong's Kong's best clubs and restaurants, with the world's top-name rugby speakers flying in and doing the after-dinner speaking circuit. They're even getting into the swing with celebrity golf games. This week, Hong Kong's favourite off-pitch contact sport of networking is at an all-time high. The corporates will be pressing the flesh practically as much as the Aussies and the Kiwis will be in the Bledisloe scrum.
In a month where 'value investing' has meant buying low and selling lower, and 'cash flow' means the movement your money makes as it disappears down the toilet, and 'profit' is becoming an archaic word no longer in use. The Bledisloe will give us all something to smile about, from the joke doing the rounds: 'This is worse than a divorce. I've lost half my net worth and I still have my partner.' And while the markets are on the way down, the smiles are on the way up with a plethora of functions this week. Many are a face-off between Aussies and Kiwis. These include:
Amici Group HK Bledisloe Cup lunch with Zinzan Brooke, Tim Horan and Phil Greening
Former All Black Brooke battles out the pitch-side banter with Horan, hosted by former Lion and England international Greening.
