Hong Kong clinched two gold and three silver medals at the inaugural Asian Beach Games in Bali, Indonesia, yesterday. Heading the medals haul was windsurfer Cheng Kwok-fai, who captured his first gold medal at a major games when he finished first in the men's lightweight Mistral. Ho Chi-ho and wife Vicky Chan Wai-kei took silver in the RS:X and women's Mistral. The Hobie team of Patrick Lam Che-ming and Tong Yui-shing also ended up with a silver. 'I have never won at a major games,' said Cheng. 'This just confirms that all the hard work I put in was worth it.' Cheng said the win boosted his confidence for the 2009 East Asian Games in Hong Kong and the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games. The other gold medal yesterday came from Natasha Terri Tang Wing-yung in the women's 5km swim with a time of one hour, five minutes and 29.01 seconds. She will also compete in the 10km race today. Hong Kong will have the chance to add to their medals tally in today's triathlon. Olympian Daniel Lee Chi-wo and Andrew Wright will compete in the men's race, while Tania Mak So-ning will take part in the women's competition.
