Vincent asks: What should I eat after karate training?

Wynnie says: Re-fuelling with the right sorts of foods and fluids will help you to recover after an intensive training session.

You need to replace fluids lost during training as soon as possible. The type of fluids you need depends very much on the intensity and duration of your training.

For sessions lasting less than an hour, water is enough to rehydrate your body.

If you train for more than 60 minutes at a time, it's better to choose a drink containing carbohydrates, such as Gatorade, Lucozade Sport or diluted fruit juice or fruit squash. The sugars contained in these drinks provide an immediate source of fuel for your muscles and help to increase water absorption into the bloodstream.
