Sports Source Asia 2008
On the heels of its successful debut last year, Sports Source Asia (SSA) 2008 returns with about 240 exhibitors and a comprehensive programme of product parades, information trend reports and seminars hosted by industry experts.
Held from today until Friday at AsiaWorld-Expo, and organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and MMI-Munich International Trade Fairs, the annual event is a major marketplace for the sporting goods sector in Asia.
'In addition to being a much-needed sourcing platform, [SSA 2008] will also be a catalyst for business partnerships, such as joint ventures, franchising, and licensing arrangements,' said Raymond Yip, the HKTDC's assistant executive director.
While the United States and the European Union are the biggest markets for sporting goods, the mainland, spurred on by the fitness drive that accompanied the Beijing Olympics, has high growth potential. As a result, buyers view SSA as the region's premier sourcing hub for the industry.
Major sectors at the fair are represented by different zones, making it easy to identify potential suppliers. The three zones are sportswear and shoes, sports equipment and accessories, and fabrics and materials.
