The cutest ghost around, Casper probably rates as one of the top billing acts for a Halloween movie evening.
Released in 1995, Casper brought the Casper the Friendly Ghost cartoons and comic strips to the big screen, using computer-generated imagery to great effect.
The story begins when mean and selfish Carrigan Crittenden (played by Cathy Moriarty) discovers she has only inherited her father's haunted old mansion rather than his millions.
Removing the ghosts from their home proves to be rather more difficult than Carrigan thought it would be so she resorts to a 'ghost shrink', who moves into the house with his sceptical 12-year-old daughter, Kat.
Casper, who died at the age of 12, has a central dilemma. He's lonely and wants a friend, but every time he tries to get one he scares them off with his ghostly appearance. Kat has been lonely ever since her mother died, and she needs a friend too.
The two form a bond, but they have to deal with Casper's annoying ghost uncles and a host of other problems too.
