The Jockey Club racing stewards have again adjourned their inquiry into jockey Chris Munce's jailing over the so-called 'tips-for-bets' affair after a short hearing via video link yesterday.
The stewards' hearing, which was opened briefly then adjourned two days after Munce was arrested by the ICAC on July 3, 2006, reconvened yesterday via a video link procedure, the first of its kind involving the Hong Kong Jockey Club.
The hi-tech process went ahead at 10am yesterday with Munce at the offices of Racing New South Wales in Sydney and Jamie Stier's panel of stewards in the Jockey Club offices at Happy Valley.
After some questions and responses and the submission of unspecified documents to evidence, Stier again adjourned the inquiry.
'Clearly, I can't discuss what was said or what was involved. The consideration of that evidence which was taken has now begun and we are hopeful that before the end of this week we will be able to announce when the hearing will recommence,' said Stier.
Munce (pictured) last week completed 20 months' in jail, partly served in Hong Kong and partly in Sydney, his penalty imposed for breaches of the Prevention of Bribery Ordinance after being found to have provided tips to a punter in return for a share of bets placed on those tips.
