Some people get all the great jobs, just ask former England captain Mike Gatting, OBE.
'I came to Hong Kong as the manager of the England team last year, and I'm back in the same role this year. I'd only ever been to Hong Kong once before that to watch the Sixes, and another time as a stopover on a cricket tour to Australia,' said Gatting.
'It's a shame I never got to play in the Sixes, it's grown into a very respected tournament, something similar to Twenty20. The Hong Kong Sixes is incredible in terms of the calibre of teams. It brings all the best players here.
'I think I was extremely lucky to play cricket for a job, it doesn't get much better than representing your country as captain. I've met so many great friends around the world, friends for life.
'There are not too many major cities I visit that I haven't got a good cricket friend to catch up with. It was good to recently reciprocate some of the hospitality when a KCC team played at Lords in July this year.'
Cricket is a game known for its sledging and Gatting enjoyed some of it this week at the Carbine Club's Cricket Lunch last Friday at the Hong Kong Jockey Club.
