Chris Munce arrested at Royal Garden Hotel, Tsim Sha Tsui East, by Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) officers on the day he was ticketed to return to Australia. Found to have HK$250,000 cash on him, plus a list of horses and bets. Not charged.
July 20, 2006
Refused permission to leave Hong Kong, with authorities retaining his passport.
September 14-15, 2006
First court appearance, charged by the ICAC with having corruptly acted against the interests of the trainer in tipping horses that he would ride to win races. He is bailed on HK$100,000 bond and HK$100,000 surety, but allowed to return to Australia.
September 17, 2006
Returns to Sydney. On basis of being innocent until proved guilty, Munce was licensed by Racing NSW, subject to his agreeing to return to Hong Kong to attend his hearing when required.
February 12-16, 2007
Court hearing in Hong Kong. Found by District Court Judge Kevin Browne to be guilty of corrupt conduct and sentenced to 30 months jail, with a minimum of 20 months to be served. Munce does not appeal.
September 25, 2007
Transferred to Sydney under a prisoner exchange agreement negotiated between the governments of Australia and Hong Kong. Serves the balance of his sentence in Silverwater Jail in western Sydney.
October 30, 2008
Released from Silverwater Jail having served the mandatory minimum of 20 months of his 30-month sentence. Within days, Racing NSW issues him a licence to ride.
December 1, 2008
At the final session of a Hong Kong Jockey Club inquiry, Munce pleads guilty to all 36 charges relating to the affair. Sentenced to periods of disqualification on all counts - a total of 633 months, but in reality 30 months because they were ordered to be served concurrently.

At a 'show cause' hearing in Sydney, where Munce was to show why his licence should not be revoked, Racing NSW chooses to disregard the Hong Kong decision and allow Munce to retain his NSW jockey licence.
