Connecting with teens around the world Name Jessica Berner Age 17 City Aarau Aarau is not a particularly big city, with only about 16,000 residents. But it has almost everything we need: schools, shops, clubs, swimming pools and a soccer stadium. I study German, French, maths and GSW, which covers subjects like geography, history, economics and law. I also study Latin. My mother tongue is German. I also speak English, French and a little Italian. I learned Cantonese by talking to my grandmother who speaks it and by watching Chinese movies. In my spare time I read and draw a lot. In the summer, I like to pay sports like soccer and volleyball. I listen to all types of music depending on my mood and the occasion. For example, when I study, I prefer classical music. When I'm sad, I like gothic music. I don't have a favourite musician - I'm attracted by the melody. One of the most important festivals falls on August 1 - our national day. We invite our grandparents, uncles, aunts and cousins for dinner. When it gets dark, everybody sets off fireworks. It's the only day of the year we're allowed to light them, so we make the most of it.
