Disneyland attracting more local visitors, new report reveals
Hong Kong Disneyland received a total of 14.5 million visitors from its opening in 2005 until last month, a government paper has revealed.
'Hong Kong Disneyland continues to see strong momentum and growth over the last few months - attendance is 15 per cent ahead of the previous year - and has yet to see an immediate impact from the changing economic environment,' the document said.
The paper, for the Legislative Council's economic development panel meeting next Tuesday, said the theme park's attendance had grown 8 per cent in its third year, from October last year to September.
According to confidential documents seen by the South China Morning Post earlier, the park had 4.17 million visitors in its second year. An 8 per cent growth in attendance means it received more than 4.5 million visitors in its third year - an average of about 12,300 a day.
Local visitors made up 40 per cent of the attendance, up 9 percentage points from a year ago. About one-third were from the mainland.
'This is attributable to the increase in annual pass-holders and expanded special events targeting the local young adult market,' the paper said.
