Caspar Fownes is engaged in races against nature and time to get Jackpot Delight fit to fulfil his engagement in the Hong Kong Vase. Yesterday, Jockey Club senior veterinarian Brian Stewart examined Jackpot Delight at Fownes' stables and found him to be sore in his right front foot due to bruising. Jackpot Delight has not appeared at trackwork the past two days, but has been restricted to swimming exercise. However, Fownes (pictured) said he had his final fast work on Monday and has not missed any gallops as he prepares for the 2,400 metres race. Chief steward Jamie Stier said Jackpot Delight would be subjected to a further veterinary appraisal tomorrow morning.
