There are no light sabers in new space anime Tytania, but there is plenty of drama and epic space battles attached to the adventures of Fan Hulic, a former Admiral of the planet Euria space fleet.
Tytania is based on a series of three books written by novelist Yoshiki Tanaka between 1988 to 1991. A manga translation was released early this year followed by an anime adaptation in October.
Mankind has migrated to the stars, and planets all over the galaxy have been colonised. Many of these planets are a part of the Interstellar Federation, the largest force in the galaxy. But the Federation is under the control of the Tytania clan of nobles, who reside in a giant space city.
With the clan's superior technology and military might, Tytania rules the galaxy - anyone standing in their way is wiped out.
But Tytania is defeated for the first time in 200 years at the Battle of Cerberus by an inexperienced admiral named Fan Hulic from the planet Euria.
Cleverly forecasting the opposition's military strategy and using it against them, Fan Hulic comes up with a tactic that manages to wipe out most of Tytania's fleet, causing them an unprecedented loss of troops.
