When I was a child, I used to apologise immediately if I had done something wrong.
As I grew older, I found it more and more difficult to  say 'sorry'.
One time my friend and I had an argument because I told others her secrets.  She was very upset.  Eventually I plucked up courage to apologise.
She said she was happy that I apologised because I hardly ever do that.
It is important to apologise - we will not feel guilty and the other party will feel better.
It took me years to learn that apologising is nothing to be ashamed of.
If it's too hard for you to say 'sorry', you can always put it on paper.

Thanks for the letter, Amanda. Sorry is a very difficult thing to say because it means we have to admit failure on our part. But, most of the time the things we do wrong are unintended. That should make it a lot easier to say 'sorry'.
Saying sorry is as important as we make it out to be. If we think it is a big deal, we will hesitate or refuse to apologise. If we ask ourselves how much it will cost us not to say sorry, we will see it is usually the best thing to do.
