You never know who you might meet at a bus stop. French expatriates Agnes Thierry (above left) and Julia O'Toole (right, with brand ambassador Rachel Kan Mo-wah) bumped into one another waiting for a ride in Hong Kong, and realised they both spoke the same language and shared similar artistic tastes. Now, the two native Parisians are partners in a jewellery line called Tara Moor. O'Toole is the founder and Thierry joined as creative director. The two previewed their newest designs on Tuesday at Club M1NT, followed by a private sale. However, instead of using or combining their names for the label, the name has a more mystical moniker. 'Tara is the Greek goddess of peace. Moor comes from the word Moorish, a period in history where Christians and Muslims existed in peace,' O'Toole said. 'I wanted my company to portray an image of a woman who is at peace with herself.' The two invited several local fashionable socialites to model their wares at the jewellery show. But, as designer Thierry explained, trendy glamour girls aren't her usual muse. 'I get inspired by anything really, from Asian and African art, as well as nature. I designed this line for a woman who is a versatile and open-minded woman.' Like glamorous French women who are down to earth enough to take public transport.
