The premises of unlicensed radio station Citizens' Radio were raided by the Office of the Telecommunications Authority last night. 'Ofta officers entered the premises in Chai Wan and seized one radio transmitter,' an authority spokesman said. Three people were detained for questioning. Station manager Tsang Kin-shing said the equipment was worth HK$20,000 to HK$30,000. In January, a magistrate ruled the radio licensing regime unconstitutional and dismissed charges against Citizens' Radio broadcasters. He suspended the ruling pending appeal. Last week, appeal judges ruled the licensing regime constitutional and said unlicensed broadcasting would be illegal regardless of constitutionality, and ordered that the trial resume.
