The man who blogs as Chubby Hubby (chubbyhubby.net) would be intimidating to have over for dinner. Living in Singapore with his wife (the lovely S), he's sophisticated, wealthy and well-travelled. He doesn't only blog about restaurants; he also posts about what he and his wife cook in their custom-built kitchen (above), with its walk-in wine room, his-and-hers Kitchen Aid mixers and Miele appliances. Sometimes they make simple food, such as grilled Pacific saury or sandwiches (although made with fresh baked sesame baguettes, spread with Normandy butter and stuffed with pata negra ham). When they cook for dinner parties, though, they go all out with multiple-course meals served with appropriate wines. A recent dinner party for their 'serious foodie friends' involved dishes such as duo of scallops (one topped with Japanese herb dressing, the other with miso beurre blanc and avruga caviar), uni pasta with yuzu zest and minced shiso, cannelloni stuffed with pork neck, baby portobello mushrooms and chestnuts and topped with saffron cream sauce and shaved white truffle, butter-poached Wagyu tenderloin and a dessert of lemon meringue ice box cake.
