Originally a dating sim game for the PC and PS2, Akane-iro ni Somaru Saka (The Hill Dyed Rose Madder) was made into two light novels last December and February, each written by a different author.
An internet radio show also started airing in April. A manga version was published in the anthology magazine Comp Ace in June.
The anime revolves around Jun'ichi Nagase who looks like a typical high school student. However, he is nicknamed 'Geno Killer' due to his extremely violent reputation - a reputation that has been exaggerated to the point that people fear death at his hands.
One day, he sees a cute girl being harassed by a couple of guys. Jun'ichi steps in, the guys recognised him as Geno Killer and back off immediately.
The next day at school, transfer student Yuuhi Katagiri joins Jun'ichi's class - and turns out to be the cute girl he saved the day before, and the daughter of a wealthy business mogul.
On Yuuhi's second day, the girls in her class badger her about her relationship with Jun'ichi. When Jun'ichi shows up, he is asked to clarify things - in the pressure of the moment, he kisses her, causing her to scream at him.
