A truck driver was arrested in connection with the death of a cyclist in a hit-and-run accident near Yau Tong yesterday. The cyclist, 49, sustained serious head injuries and died at the scene at 2pm, police said. The light goods vehicle left the scene at Cha Kwo Ling Road after the crash and continued travelling eastwards. The bicycle was badly damaged in the collision. Witnesses reported the accident to police at about 1.50pm. According to one witness, the truck driver jumped a red light and fled the scene. The truck, slightly damaged in the accident, was later found at Sze Shan Street in Yau Tong, where the 27-year-old driver was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving causing death. He passed a breathalyser test. A special investigation team from Kowloon East is investigating the accident.
