PRICES at the Tai Po Centre in the New Territories reached $2,950 per square foot last month, just short of the top price of $2,966 recorded at the centre in September, 1992.
Completed in 1986, Tai Po Centre is a large residential project with a shuttle-bus service to a KCR station every 10 minutes.
The flats range in size from 430 sq ft up to 650 sq ft.
Brooke Hillier Parker research manager Anne Sze said the purchase price for one of the largest flats would be close to $2 million, making the centre an affordable option for young families and medium income earners.
Under the present mortgage lending policy, one of the smaller flats at the estate could be purchased with a deposit of $400,000.
During 1993, flat values at the centre fluctuated from a low of $2,618 per sq ft in February up to an August high of $2,886, before dropping back to $2,750 in November.
