AMALGAMATED Banks of South Africa Ltd, the largest banking group in South Africa, has appointed Bradley Erasmus to the position of manager of investor services. Mr Erasmus, who was working with a South African stock-broking firm, will develop the market for South African investment products, including South African Government and corporate bonds, gold, mining and industrial shares, Krugerrands and financial randdeposits. B+B Asia Ltd has appointed Philip Tose to its board of directors. Mr Tose, who will serve as a non-executive director of B+B Asia, is the chairman and one of the founders of the Peregrine group of companies. ICS Trust Co Ltd has appointed two vice-presidents. Sanjay Vaze, formerly of the State Bank of India, has joined ICS to head the trade finance department. Paul M. Brennock, a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators, will head ICS's expanding company secretarial and client services department. READER'S Digest Far East Companies has appointed William Lew Wei-laing as managing editor in the Chinese general books department for Reader's Digest Association Far East. Mr Lew, a Taiwanese national, has worked for a string of quality publications, including the Liberty Times, the Independence Evening Post, and, most recently, the United Daily News, where he was a special correspondent.MARKETING and distribution group Dransfield Holdings Ltd has made four senior appointments to the group and its subsidiaries. Stephen Lee Hung-bui has been made general manager, operations and business development of Grandom Dransfield (International) and Co Ltd, a subsidiary specialising in fast-moving consumer products. He will be a project leader with responsibility to develop relationships, review and negotiate joint-venture projects and to assess acquisition potential in China. James Kwok Bing-kun becomes the deputy general manager, sales, consumer electronics of Dransfield Electrical Appliances Ltd, which specialises in consumer electronics. He will be in charge of consumer electronics sales in Hong Kong and Macau. Wong Chi-man becomes manager, operation and store management of Dransfield Pacific Ltd, the retail and distribution arm in China. Mr Wong will manage the development of supermarkets, convenience and hyperstore acquisitions. Jeff Wong Po-chung becomes group chief accountant for the Dransfield Group. He will supervise accounting staff, and the timely completion of financial reports. ITT Sheraton Asia-Pacific Corporation has appointed Barbara Stiemerling as director, ITT Sheraton Sales Centre, Hong Kong. In her new job, Ms Stiemerling will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the ITT Sheraton Sales Centre and the European travel industry, incentive and corporate travel. She was director of international sales for the ITT Sheraton Sales Centre in Germany. Takehide Murata has been made as director of sales - Japanese markets. Mr Murata will be responsible for co-ordination and marketing sales activities for Japanese business to the ITT Sheraton Asia-Pacific properties.
