OVER 100,000 free guidebooks on the HKCEE will be available to Forms Four and Five students early next month to help them prepare for the decisive examination.

The Hok Yau Club, one of Hong Kong's largest voluntary student counselling centres, will distribute 60,000 Examination Guidebooks for Form Five students and 60,000 Student Guidebooks for Form Four students.

Hok Yau Club Student Guidance Centre director Ng Tak-kay said the booklets included question paper answering techniques, tips on organising a study timetable and suggestions on ways to reduce pressure.

''With only a few weeks to go before the exam, most candidates feel panic, and worry about not doing well. This is the time they need extra attention and advice,'' Mr Ng said.

''We hope the booklets, which give exam tips and list the numbers of counselling hotlines, will be comfort and reassurance to the students.'' Meanwhile, Mr Ng advised students to make careful note of the exact session they will take in their HKCEE English listening comprehension exam, which takes place on March 23 and 24.

''There are several sessions for students on these two days. This will be the first test in the HKCEE for many of the candidates, and they may be extra anxious about it.

''They should double-check the session, time and place, to avoid going to the wrong place or the wrong session,'' Mr Ng said.
